The MET League is a Little Hotter
Ten Southern Teams Join MET League to form South Division
May 31, 2008

The idea of bringing ten southern teams into the Met League was motioned and passed last week at the MetJHL Annual Spring Meeting.  The MET League will form a South Division that will consist of the ten teams, split into two divisions.  “It is great to have these teams on board.  They are great organizations and this move will create exciting and competitive Junior B hockey along the entire East Coast from Maine to Florida,” explained President Glenn Hefferan.  This will also be a great opportunity for the growth of junior hockey in non-traditional hockey markets.

The ten teams will include: Team Carolina, East Coast Eagles, Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers, Charleston Wolverines, Atlanta Knights, Florida Eels, Palm Beach Predators, Jacksonville Ice Dogs, Space Coast Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Bolts.

The five Florida teams will make up the Ninko Division and the other five teams will compose the Crawford Division.  The 18 north teams will compete in league play amongst themselves, while the ten south teams will play league games against the other southern teams.  There will then be two to three showcases where the teams will compete in cross divisional play.

Playoff births and National bids are pending and will be decided after the Junior Council meeting in Colorado Springs, CO.  The MET League would like to give a warm welcome to all ten teams.
